Karina Bhutta – President
Hi! My name is Karina Bhutta. I am originally from Pittsburgh, PA, but I lived in Tampa, FL for most of my life before moving to Miami. I transferred to FIU after my freshman year so I could pursue a degree in biology as well as a secondary education teaching endorsement through FIUTeach. I am now a junior, and looking forward to student teaching in Spring 2020! Outside of classes and FEA, I am also an Honors College student, a recruiter for FIUTeach and a researcher under the direction of Remy Dou. In the future, I plan to pursue a PhD in education inequity while teaching my own biology and anatomy classes in a high school.

Sophia Obas - Vice President
Hello, everyone! My name is Sophia Obas and I am currently a junior pursuing my Bachelor of Science in special education here at FIU. I am of Haitian descent and as an educator, I have 4 major goals that I wish to accomplish, and they are to educate, inspire, learn, and change the lives my students and others around me. My mid-term goal is to further my education by getting my Master’s in Educational Leadership and my long-term goal is to open my own schools in both Haiti and United States. I hope to have a wonderful school year with all of you.

Hello, my name is Marialejandra Ruiz. I was born in Peru and moved to Miami with my mom when I was 8 years old. I am an English Education major, but I'm also working on my Japanese Studies Certificate. I would like to teach at a high school level up north or in Japan, and hopefully one day teach an undergraduate class. I love to travel and I spend my time reading and writing works of fiction.

Sabrina Ramirez – Marketing Director
Hi everyone! My name is Sabrina Ramirez. I am an English Education major and I am a Senior here at FIU. I was born and raised in Miami but I plan to move after graduation to teach in another state. My goal is to teach middle school students because I love the content material and the age group. I love to see the glow in a student’s eyes when they finally understand an idea and develop their own. On the weekends, I go to my local animal shelter to walk the dogs there and provide enrichment by playing with them and giving them lots of love and treats. At home, I have animals of my own: 2 indoor cats, 5 outdoor cats, and 2 dogs. Some other hobbies of mine are painting and reading.
